DNA Extraction and Whole Genome Amplification
DNA extraction
In addition to accepting DNA samples directly from our clients, we can also extract DNA from blood, saliva, or buffy coat samples. We have developed a semi-automated platform for high quality, high-throughput DNA extraction. We have used this method to extract DNA from more than a hundred-thousand blood samples from around the world. Excess DNA can be banked at our facility or returned to you.
Whole-genome amplification
If you have samples containing only limited amounts of DNA, we can amplify it using an optimized high-throughput protocol based on the Phi29 polymerase. We can amplify from DNA, blood or buccal samples with as little as 10 ng for either 10 μg or 40 μg yield, and 100 ng for 150 μg of DNA. We quality check the resulting samples by genotyping a panel of 10 highly informative microsatellite markers across multiple chromosomes, including the X chromosome. We can amplify thousands of samples per week, and our methodology has been successful for both microsatellite and SNP genotyping.
