Quantitative Association Testing
Along with our leadership in case-control studies for phenoptypes such as end-state disease, we have also led the world in identifying variants linked to quantitative traits.
Our Disease Miner system has been developed specifically to enable the storage and mining of a wide range of phenotypes. This expertise is very relevant to our customers, as our Disease Miner system has been developed specifically to enable the storage and mining of a wide range of phenotypes. These include not only disease, but also a wide range of quantitative traits such as intermediate phenotypes, clinical measurements, and data from behavioral questionnaires. Often, as in the case of age of onset of disease, or in conditions defined by quantitative measurements, such as obesity or osteoporosis, we have embedded QT analysis within case-control studies. Please take a look at our list of publications to get an idea of the range and type of QTs we have analyzed and the sort of work we can undertake for you.
In our quantitative studies, measurements are customarily standardized using quantile-quantile standardization and then corrected for year of birth or age, sex and age at measurement, where available. For each SNP, a classical linear regression, using the genotype as an additive covariate and the standardized measurement as a response, can be fitted to test for association. P-values are scaled by the method of genomic control.
