Last week, Amgen deCODE Genetics (ADG) participated for the first time in Amgen’s Mission Week — an annual initiative where employees around the world pause to reflect on the purpose of their work and the impact it can have on the lives of others.
Throughout the week, employees took part in events celebrating Amgen’s shared mission: to serve patients and advance science for the benefit of society. Among the speakers were Þórunn Á. Ólafsdóttir, project lead at ADG, who discussed how genetic research can enhance drug development, and Katrín Júlíusdóttir, author, consultant, and former minister, who spoke about how learning she carried the BRCA2 gene affected her life.
Mission Week was a welcome opportunity to remind ourselves why our work matters.
